Hello everyone, and welcome back to ENGLISHREVISIT.
Today we are going to talk about:
1-In a moment Vs. At the(that) moment.
2-In the end OR at the end??
Okay!
Let's go with:
In a moment Vs. At the(that) moment
in a moment = very soon: 'I'll have to go shopping in a moment.
at that moment = at that particular time.
For example:
Just at that moment the telephone rang.
When you are telling a story or reporting what happened, use at that moment.
For example:
At that moment the car skidded on the ice and went off the road.
What if I say:
I am working at the moment.(is there something goes wrong in this sentence? No, it's not!)
Okay!
Remember!
We use the Present Continuous to talk about:
Actions taking place at the moment of speaking.
Right!
Let's have a closer look at this example:
At the moment I'm working in a restaurant.(= now, at the present time)
In the end OR at the end??
In the end are used to introduce the result or outcome of something.
At the end refers to the point where something finishes:
For example:
Their house is at the end of the road.
Do you remember what happens at the end of the film?
Is this explanation enough?
Yeah! It is but there's a subtle rule , it is
in the end isn't followed by "off" ,unlike at the end, at the end is usually followed by of : at the end of the lesson/course/road/year.
As always, If you have any difficult or fuzzy question(s) you want to know the explanation of them(it) , feel free to ask us!
